Superintendent’s Message
The 2009-2010 school year is off to a great start. We were very pleased to see that our enrollment did not decrease for the first time in many years. In fact, our enrollment is projected to be approximately 40 students above budget by the end of the year. This increased enrollment will result in an increase in district resources, thus enabling us to upgrade our technology in all of our buildings. We will be working with our local Educational Service District to upgrade our building tech labs, software and computers in our libraries.
Over the past several years we have strengthened our district technology infrastructure, including the appropriate filter and security systems. This has positioned us to upgrade the hardware in our buildings for student use and with the increased resources from student enrollment and levy dollars we will have a system in place by fall of 2010. This will greatly enhance our student’s ability to access 21st century technology learning tools.
It was great to see many of our parents attend student conferences in November. It is well established that our students have the greatest chance for success if the staff and parents work as partners in the student’s school experience. I always encourage you to stay involved with your child’s educational experience and staff are very happy to answer your questions or address concerns that you may have. I believe that you will always feel welcome when contacting the school staff.
Again, thank you for your continued support of Chimacum Schools and our children. They are indeed our future and we believe we need to provide the best possible education to prepare them for that future.
