Temperature determines the conditions in which living matter can exist. Small temperature changes in the water can drive fish away from that area and bring in other living things in their place. Temperature changes can come from trees that are removed which then give the stream more sun. Factories and power plants take water in to use as a coolant and then discharge it back into the stream but warmer that it came in. Temperature affects other things like dissolved oxygen, and pH levels. Temperature is where you see how cold or hot the water is. When we went to take the temperature with our sensor we had to get in the water with the palm pilot and the sensor to get the temperature in the middle of the water
