ATHLETIC CODE OF CONDUCT
1. All athletes must pass a valid physical exam and have this record on file
in the school before turning out.
2. Athletic Rules: All Athletes must be in regular attendance to participate
in athletics. You MUST arrive to school on time (you may not be tardy)
in order to participate that day.
Any student participating in school-sponsored events must attend all
classes and class activities in order to participate that day. Exceptions
to this
requirement must be approved in advance by the school administration
in accordance with the guidelines below.
*A student may be excused for medical or dental appointments. A note from the physician will be necessary.
*A student may be excused for family matters such as death, severe illness, or some other emergency. The final decision resides with the school administration.
*Prior arrangements have been made with the school administration.
3. All athletes must be covered by adequate school insurance or waiver
signifying personal insurance before turning out.
4. All athletes must have passed all classes the last quarter and
have a 2.00 grade average.
5. All athletes MUST have an ASB card and pay a participation
fee of $25 per sport.
6. No athlete will be permitted to use or possess any controlled
substance such as drugs or alcohol, or tobacco, during
the sport season while
attending the
Chimacum Middle School. Athletes who break training expectations
of drugs, or alcohol, or tobacco will be excluded from
all games, contests, or events,
and
must choose between two options outlined in the Chimacum
School District Policy.
7. Any willful or overt act that will embarrass or detract
from the team will jeopardize the athlete’s further participation.
8. In addition to the expectations listed above, any athlete
violating the athletic code for the use of non-prescribed
or illegal drugs
alcohol or tobacco
will be
required to complete, with a parent/guardian or an approved
adult, an approved chemical or tobacco education program
prior to being
allowed to compete in
any athletic contest. In addition, a second offense will
suspend the athlete from
contest participation for the remainder of the school
year.
9. None of the above policies restrict the coach from
using appropriate discipline procedures to maintain
team discipline.
