Chimacum Middle School

Technology

At Chimacum Middle School, we have four Teacher Leadership Project teachers, trained by the Gates Foundation with a fifth being trained right in our own school. Five rooms are fully equipped with technology for student use. We also have two math teachers being trained by the NO LIMIT grant for excellence in math and their rooms are full of fantastic technology.

What's more, Chimacum Middle School was chosen by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as a Model School! With a portion of the grant monies, we purchased an additional 40 computers. We also used some of the money to buy a laptop for every teacher and a projection device for every classroom. The 40 iMacs where distributed into classrooms for students to access when they need them. With the rest of the grant monies, teachers are being trained to use their new equipment as well as how to best teach our students.

Chimacum Middle School students still have access to a word processing lab space. Our lab is a word processing/keyboarding lab with 12 LC 475's, 16 Mac 550's, one Quadra 660AV, and one Quadra 610 equipped with ClarisWorks, Mavis Beacon, and All The Right Type. Computers I for 7th graders is still taught in this computer lab.
