CSD 49 Music Department

About

The Chimacum School District Music Department is responsible for the music education duties at Chimacum High School, Chimacum Middle School, Chimacum Elementary School, and Chimacum Creek Primary School. The Music Department offers a comprehensive program that offers students varying musical outlets throughout their K-12 experience. The program is made possible by the continued support of community members through participation in music department fundraisers, donations, and Chimacum School Levies.

Chimacum High School Bands and Choirs

The CHS Music program has a continued tradition of excellence for over 70 years. The CHS Bands and Choirs have performed throughout the Puget Sound area, United States, and Canada. Members of the ensembles participate regularly in honor ensembles and activities. The program includes the CHS Concert Band, CHS Jazz Band, CHS Choir, and CHS “Cowboy” Marching Band. Ensembles have been consistently recognized with ratings of Excellent at adjudicated events, and consistently place in well in competitions.

Often among the top of their classes, graduates of the program are consistently recognized with academic scholarships and awards.

Chimacum Middle School Bands

The CMS Bands are built around a tradition of excellence. Designed to challenge students and provide them with the opportunity to perform in the school and community, the bands are consistently recognized with ratings of Excellent at adjudicated events. Students in the program are often recognized for their achievement in all academic areas.

Chimacum Elementary Music and Chimacum Primary Music

The Chimacum Elementary and Primary Music Program offers students varying musical experiences from general music to performance in the 5th Grade Band and Choir. Students in the general music classroom participate in Orff/Kodaly curriculum and learn basic music, music appreciation, and performance skills. 5th Grade Band and Choir students participate in activities designed to work on large ensemble skills, basic musicianship, music history, and music appreciation.

Andy Mackie Music

Chimacum Schools are very fortunate to receive the musical support of the Andy Mackie Foundation. Through the AMF, every student at Chimacum learns how to make music and is offered the opportunity to take lessons on specific instruments. For more information about AMF and how you could get involved, please contact your building principal.
