New printing changeover is functioning

Once a computer is added to the domain and connected to the secure wireless network, the traditional printing setup will not work.  Locally connected USB printers will work without any changes, but your network printer connections will need to be changed.

You can add printers in the IP section as described here.

The other method is to use the Active Directory listed printers.

  • Open System Preferences from the Apple menu and click on Print & Fax.
  • Remove old network printer icons by selecting them and then clicking the “-” (minus) button.
  • Click the “+” (plus) button to open the printer browser.
  • Click the Default button at the top of the window.
  • Select one of the printers from the list.  It should display Open Directory on the right.
  • Wait for the Print Using menu to fill in and click Add.
  • Now open a document to print (don’t use Fire Fox for this part) and print it.
  • You will be asked for a username and password, enter CSD49\first_last, then your password for the computer.  Check the Save password box and then print.
